The Government of Canada has allocated $250 million toward hunger relief in countries where the situation is most dire. As well, the government will match all donations made by individuals to the Humanitarian Coalition's Appeal to End Hunger by July 17, up to a total of $5 million.

What is the Humanitarian Coalition?
The Humanitarian Coalition is an organization of 12 Canadian relief and development agencies, including the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Through its membership in the Foodgrains Bank, PWRDF is able to participate in Humanitarian Coalition appeals. We have done so twice before, when the government announces a matching fund to encourage donations.

    
How parishes can help:

  • Please add prayers for an end to hunger and for peace in the world to your worship services.
  • Please share this bulletin insert or the information on it with your parish between now and July 17.
  • Please encourage parishioners to donate with the link, below, or send donations to PWRDF to 80 Hayden Street, 3rd floor, Toronto, Ontario, M4Y 3G2 (and add Appeal to End Hunger on the memo).
