Jean Margaret Quinton, ODNW

20 MAY, 192830 JANUARY, 2025

Born Jean Margaret Hyde to Ernest and Alice Hyde, Jean grew up in Saskatoon and moved to Vancouver at the age of 15 to look after an ailing aunt. During that time, she also worked as a stenographer and secretary in a financial office for a number of years. Jean met her husband Edward (Ted) at St. Margaret’s Anglican, in Vancouver, and they were married on the hottest day of the year, July 11, 1959.

Family and church were always her priority. At each church she attended Jean served in the choir and on the Altar Guild. She was People’s Warden, sat on many committees, and was always quick to help whenever needed. She was awarded the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster at age 94. Never seeking acknowledgement, her deep commitment to church life leaves a legacy of inclusivity, caring and commitment. Jean’s faithfulness reminds us of the impact small kindnesses can bring to those around us.

Jean is predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted), sister Doreen, brother Ken, and stepsister Marge. She is survived by her children David and Nancy (Jonathan), grandchildren Connor and Talia, and many nieces and nephews.

She passed quietly on Jan 30th with her children at her side. Beloved Wife and Mom she is so loved and so very missed.

A memorial service remembering both Jean and Ted will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican, Vancouver, BC on March 16, 1:30 pm.
