The Rt Rev.James D. Cruickshank, Retired Bishop of the former Diocese of Cariboo, former Dean of the Diocese of New Westminster & Rector of Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver, VST professor (among other appointments and charges in his long career) and now a parishioner at Christ Church Cathedral returned to his home parish of St. Michael and All Angels, in Prince George, BC for that parish's centennial celebrations, September 23rd-25th. Bishop Jim began his faith journey in that parish in the late 1950's and he was baptised, confirmed and celebrated his first Eucharist as a priest in the downtown Prince George church.
Bishop Jim began the three days of special events on Friday evening, September 23rd by dedicating the new custom-built Rogers digital organ in the St. "Mike's" sanctuary. The organ was purchased for $30,000 and the money was raised locally from generous donations both from the parish and from the greater Prince George community. Following the blessing, Organist and Director of Music Barbara Parker presented an organ recital and that performance was followed by Evensong.
Here are the words of dedication spoken by the Bishop.
To God's Glory and to our joy,
And to all who made this possible,
I Bless this organ in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Amen
