Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent.
It is a time for self-reflection, fasting, prayer and repentence before Easter. Lent offers the invitation to dive deeper into Christ's message and prepare for the Easter feast.
Across the diocese, parishes brought out ashes to signify pentinence on this blessed day. Many gathered outside Christ Church Cathedral, in particular.
Psalm 103:14: “For he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”
