John Donne was one of the very best and most dramatic of all preachers (and writers) of his time. You are invited to join us for a dramatic presentation of his Second Prebend Sermon on
Psalm 63:7. John Donne, the glory of English preaching, was a poet, satirist, lawyer and priest. In 1621, he was appointed the Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Find out for yourself why thousands of people flocked to see and hear him in seventeenth century England. This sermon brings together ‘the whole compass of time, Past, Present, and Future’ in an unending circle of eternal glory. If you enjoy drama, theatre, and lively and picturesque language, you won’t want to miss it.
People will be surprised by the excitement and passion of the St. Paul’s sermon that I will present – it has more in common with a play – a drama for the theatre - than with a sermon in any currently common sense of the word. -
