By 7:30pm on Ascension Day, May 25 the Italian Cultural Centre catering staff, the A/V-Tech crew, Synod Staff and Worship Team leader the Venerable John Stephens had concluded the set-up for 117th Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster themed "Hold Fast to What is Good". This was by far the smoothest set-up at the ICC of the five consecutive Synods that have taken place at the venue. The decision to rent the facilities at a reduced rate for the Thursday prior to the Friday morning Synod opening was a good one.
Synod Staff and volunteers arrived bright and early on Friday, May 26, (some as early as 6:30am) to begin the preparation for the registration of approximately 300 delegates arriving at 8am.
The Synod Hall (the ICC Grand Ballroom) was set-up in "Opening Worship" configuration when the delegates arrived.
