Description:

The Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster is seeking applications for the position of Rector of the Parish of St Hilda, Sechelt. This is a full-time, permanent position.

St Hilda’s describes itself in these words:

> Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on your journey of faith, you will find a place at the table of St Hilda’s. Come as you are. There are many ways, with no one way in particular, to be part of this vibrant community. Join us with an open mind and be prepared to discover a home for your spirit that is inclusive, incarnating, and joyful.

> We are working to attract and engage newcomers of any age and background, helping all to integrate into the parish.

> We are supporting emerging ministries such as Healing and Anointing, Pastoral Care Team, and Outreach.

> We are providing support to emerging leadership.

Some notable features of the community life include:

> Justice commitments include: a decade-long partnership with the local Sunshine Coast Rotary Club in a relationship with villagers in Ndandini, Kenya, incorporating environmental and climate justice into the essence of our consciousness, further developing our relationships with the local shíshálh Nation.

> In 2025 we are receiving a diocesan grant to support Indigenous Ministries in response to the TRC.

> There are three recently retired deacons living in the Sunshine Coast community who are available to assist the rector in liturgy, preaching, and pastoral care.

> Our Casavant pipe organ is the only one of its kind on the lower Sunshine Coast and the wonderful acoustics of the sanctuary were further improved by a major restoration of the church in 2018.

Some qualities the parish is seeking in their next rector are:

> Leads worship and preaches, using captivating stories and fresh perspectives to bring the Gospel alive in this time and place, being sensitive to creating a safe trauma-free space for worship.

>Brings creative liturgical leadership, rooted in the depth and breadth of the Anglican tradition, with an openness to the enlivening movement of the Holy Spirit in the 21st century.

> Uses skills as facilitator and guide, helping us continue to learn healing practices that will assist a broad range of people from any background as we struggle to understand our role in this changing world.
