Thursday, May 24, 2018, in the Memorial Garden at St. John's, Shaughnessy, the soil and remains that had been moved from the Memorial Garden at St. Mark's, Kitsilano were laid to rest. Prayers were said, people were remembered and we were strengthened in our faith in the resurrection.
In a quiet ceremony a few of us gathered to give thanks, acknowledge grief and pray for God's peace and then the soil with the ashes of loved ones were put into the designated place at St. John's. With great care and respect that soil was then covered over so that the new ashes were incorporated into the Memorial Garden at St. John's Shaughnessy. There is an annual service for the Memorial Garden and loved ones are warmly invited to attend.
This year the Memorial Garden Service of Remembrance at St. John's Shaughnessy is on September 23 at 3pm.
