The Ecumenical/Multi-Faith Unit Group and the Bishop of New Westminster have coordinated a letter of greeting to everyone on the Lunar New Year, commonly known as Chinese New Year.
This global celebration, while not inherently connected to one faith tradition, honours the calendar and culture of many of our neighbours, co-workers, family members, friends and fellow parishioners. This year the Lunar New Year is on January 22.
You can learn about the Lunar New Year here and why and how it is celebrated around the world.
As followers of Christ, we take seriously Jesus' call to walk in peace with one another. If you have a friend, neighbour, co-worker, parishioner or family member who celebrates the Lunar New Year, be sure to share with them this letter of greeting and the joy Christ has given you.
The Ecumenical/Multi-Faith Unit Group is looking for new participants who are interested in learning about building relationships with people of differing faiths and Christian traditions. If you feel called to ecumenical or multi-faith work, please connect with the Reverend David Taylor at dmatthew.taylor@gmail.com.
