“Songs of Freedom”, the annual concert celebrating Black History Month, will be hosted at the Cathedral this year on Saturday, February 1, at 7:30 pm. Inaugurated 13 years ago by Marcus Mosely and his colleagues, it is a rich recognition and expression, in music and words, of black culture in our city.

This year’s concert features an all-women cast that includes:

  • Candus Churchill: singer, actor, member BC Hall of Fame.
  • Krystle Dos Santos: singer, songwriter, Western Canadian Award recipient.
  • Dawn Pemberton: “Queen of Soul”, recipient of Urban Recording of the Year.
  • Star Trickey: singer and disability rights advocate.

And special guest...

  • Minnijean Trickey: American political figure, member of the Little Rock Nine.

Host, Marcus Mosely, brings along his Ensemble (recent performances at Mission Folk Fest, Anvil Theatre, Rogue Folk Club).

Tickets: $45 + GST available at marcusmoselymusic.com/events
