On Good Friday, 2012, the congregations of St. David’s, Ward Memorial Baptist, and the Longhouse Native Ministry worshiped together at all three locations in East Vancouver. It was standing room only at the commencement of the liturgy at the Longhouse. After opening worship of prayers and songs, a large wooden Cross was carried through the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood followed by the congregation in procession. Next stop was St. David’s church where the cross was laid upon the Altar, the passion story from John’s Gospel was read, prayers were offered and hymns were sung. Then the congregation followed the Cross out of St. David’s and processed the two blocks to the south to conclude the ecumenical worship at Ward Memorial Baptist.
