Most have heard and/or read that Michael, our Bishop, has signified his intention to resign the See, August 31st, 2013. In his announcement to the Synod Office staff he said that he is going to be hanging up his mitre and crozier and taking up his golf clubs. There will be occasions to celebrate with thanksgiving his ministry among us – but he’s not gone yet! Speaking of retirements: The Rev. Gertrude (Trudy) Lebans has given notice to the Bishop and the Parish of St Laurence, Coquitlam that she will resign the parish with her last Sunday on June 23rd, 2013 followed by some vacation before beginning active retirement. Trudy has served as Incumbent of St Laurence for eight years having arrived in this diocese from the Diocese of Niagara.
We give thanks for the ministry of the Rev. Ron Wickens who will celebrate his 50th anniversary to the priesthood at St Thomas Church, Vancouver on Wednesday, May 1st (Feast of St Philip & St James) with Holy Eucharist at 7:30pm and a reception following. All are welcome.
The Bishop will ordain to the Transitional Deaconate Dr Alain-Michel Rocheleau and Ms Ka Hyun MacKenzie Shin on Sunday, 23 June, 2013 at 4:00 pm in Christ Church Cathedral. Ka Hyun will begin her ministry at St Stephen the Martyr, Burnaby and Alain-Michel as a non-stipendiary priest at St Helen, Point Grey.
