On Thursday, October 31st at 6:30pm St James' will hold a Requiem Mass for All Souls'. The music will be from Maurice Duruflé's Requiem. Using Gregorian themes of the plainchant Mass for the Dead as his material, Duruflé clothed the sometimes archaic-sounding melodies in sophisticated harmonies of the early modern school. This is a rare opportunity to experience his transcendent work in its fitting liturgical context.
