Winter Cycle Parish Development Grants Timeline

Application Deadline: September 6th, 2024
Parishes should submit a completed application form (no cover letter required) to pdgrants@vancouver.anglican.ca. Further consultation and clarification may follow with the Parish Development Grants team.
September 21st, 2024: The Parish Development Grants Team will review all grant applications.
October 26th, 2024: The selected parishes will have the opportunity to meet with the Parish Development Grants Team to discuss their applications and projects.
December 17th, 2024: A final list of recommended proposals will be approved, and granting decisions will be completed.

 

Overview

Parish Development Grants are aimed at supporting parish-level project that in some manner help with “growing communities of faith in Jesus Christ to serve God’s mission in the world.” 

Priority is given to project that extend outreach to the community, meet community needs, engage with newcomers, enhance liturgy and Christian formation, and promote children and youth ministry.

Eligibility Criteria

Project proposals should:

Alignment with Diocesan Vision

  • Clearly demonstrate alignment with the vision and mission of the Diocese.
  • Support the Diocese's goals of fostering spiritual growth and community engagement.

Impact and Benefit

  • Have a demonstrable, positive impact on the parish community.
  • Foster spiritual growth, community engagement, or address critical social needs within the parish and the wider community.

Sustainability and Stewardship

  • projects expected to extend beyond the funding period must include a clear plan for long-term sustainability.
  • Include a detailed budget and a plan for the effective use of funds.

Capacity and Readiness

  • Demonstrate that necessary skills, resources and support structures are in place.
  • Demonstrate parish's capacity and readiness to implement and sustain the project.

Transparency and Accountability

  • The project must include clear objectives and reporting mechanisms.
  • Adherence to timelines and accountability for project outcomes are essential.

Innovation and Creativity

  • include innovative approaches and creative strategies 
  • use new technologies that are not capital expenditures 

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Demonstratie the potential for building bridges within the parish and beyond 
Process & General Guidelines

Grant Availability: Parish Development Grants are offered semi-annually, in the spring and fall.

Eligibility: Only parishes within the Diocese of New Westminster are eligible to apply. Parishes that receive grants in consecutive years must observe a one-year waiting period before applying for new project funding.  

Review & Recommendation: The diocesan Parish Development Grants Committee will thoroughly evaluate projects based on the guiding principles, make recommendations to strengthen the application, and recommend approved applications to AIF.

Final Approval: Administrators of the Anglican Initiatives Fund will give final approval to applications.

Fund Disbursment: Approved funds will be disbursed according to the parish's requests, when needed.

Reporting: Reports on projects must be submitted by the prescribed deadline.

Multi-Year Project Funding: Applications for multi-year projects must be resubmitted each year during the funding period. Multi-year projects may receive funding for a maximum of three years. Each year, the grant funding request must decrease by at least 30% from the previous year, while parish funding must increase annually.
