Wine and Sign for 2023
One of the signs of the approach of Advent here at the Synod office of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster is the arrival and presence of the Advent Wreath. It came out of hiding early this year to be highlighted in Bishop John's Advent Message Video to the diocese.
Another regular week-before-Advent I event is Wine & Sign, a 90 minute opportunity for Synod office staff to gather, enjoy a glass of wine, some savoury snacks and sign the many Christmas cards sent to folks hither and yon. For 2023, Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to the Synod office, Elias Neto reprised his role as Wine & Sign organizer and readied the reception area of the Synod office for the event. Wine & Sign for 2023 took place at 2pm, Wednesday, November 29, a day when other things were going on, specifically Diocesan Council at 6:30pm, so instead of the usual location in the Trendell Lounge staff gathered at two large round tables in reception.
There was red and white wine as well as some non-alcoholic choices and a fine selection of snacks. Elias set up the projector and screened the film "Home Alone" on the south wall. Staff had a great time and were glad to pause the busyness of this time of year to spend brief but quality time together.
