Last month we posted a web story about The Venerable Dr. Ellen
Clark-King’s brother, The Rev’d Jonathan Clark being designated Bishop
of Croydon on February 3rd.
Ellen’s brother was consecrated in Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday, March 21st and is now The Right Rev’d Jonathan Clark. He was consecrated with The Right Rev’d Dr. Michael Ingrave, Bishop of Woolwich. The Archbishop of Canterbury was principal consecrtator.
In his sermon, The Very Reverend Andrew Nunn, Dean of Southwark gave an entertaining reflection on the scenic sights of Croydon but included a more serious message about the importance of reaching out to the community and inviting secular society back into churches.
As a suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Southwark, Bishop Jonathan oversees the Episcopal Area of Croydon, made up of the Archdeaconries of Croydon and Reigate which together contain 112 parishes.
Ellen was present at the consecration and in the photograph brother and sister appear to be very happy to be together on this important occasion.
