Job Posting: Worship Leader at St. Mark's Ocean Park

The Parish of St. Mark's, Ocean Park is seeking a Worship Leader to join the ministry team. The ideal candidate will build the music  program of the Parish of St. Mark – Ocean Park by leading inspired blended worship and growing the  chorus of singers and musicians.

This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week.

We are a faith-based community and maintain a positive work environment for our 
employees.

The employee will report to the Priest.

Description of Responsibilities
Tasks include

• Choosing music in partnership with the priest and the music committee
• Leading the chorus of singers in a weekly rehearsal, and warm-up for the 10am Sunday morning  worship
•  Playing reflective music during communion and a closing hymn at the 8am service
• Leading reflective music before and after the 10am service
• Inspiring the congregation to sing
• Playing keyboard or guitar during the service
• Recruiting other musicians including bass, guitar, piano and drums
• Leading music at special services including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Maundy Thursday, 
  Good Friday and Holy Saturday
• Providing music for weddings and funerals with additional compensation per service
•  Arranging alternative musical leadership if unavailable to play
• Follow the professional expectaitons of the Siocese of New Westminster and the Parish, including a criminal record check, safechurch training, anti-racism training, etc.

Skills

• Worship leadership experience.
•  Knowledge of a breadth of traditional and contemporary music.
• Proficient on either keyboard or guitar.
• Able to work with the priest in developing liturgy.
• Able to work with and inspire a chorus of singers.

Salary : Starts at $35/hour. With an annual salary of $18,200. Skill and experience are taken into account.
