The Anglican Parish of the Church of the Epiphany, Surrey (aka ‘Epiphany’) is pleased to have appointed a Children's and Youth Worker, Madhavi Senarathna.
We are looking forward to our first youth event in preparation for Palm Sunday when we plan for some young people to take an active role in the service.
Sunday morning gatherings for younger children will begin after Easter.
This role came into being following a very successful fund-raising campaign with the Anglican Foundation during 2022. In total, parishioners and diocesan supporters including major support from the Diocese of New Westminster’s Anglican Church Women (ACW) raised $10,000 for the parish, as well as funding for the Diocesan Youth and Anglican Church of Canada Youth programs.
The generous giving of parishioners, on top of their regular support for the parish’s mission and ministry has led to this planned initiative becoming a reality.
Since the beginning of 2023, Doni Koskela (Warden) and the Reverend Christine Rowe have worked very hard to prepare a job description, seek the appointment of the worker and are currently supporting Madhavi as the program begins. The whole venture has been very important for the parish and is providing a good deal of energy as we seek to rebuild this vital ministry.
