The Diocese of New Westminster's Clergy Conference takes place May 5, 6 and 7 at the Delta Marriott in Whistler.
The guest speaker is Prof. HyeRan Kim-Cragg, Principal at Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto. Prof. Kim-Cragg will be speaking about
Ecologically Sound Preaching: Tapping into the Wisdom from the EARTH
We know that the whole creation has been groaning. (Rom 8:22)
One of the most pressing issues for preachers today is how to engage the climate crisis and pressing ecological problems from the pulpit. Prof. HyeRan Kim-Cragg explores ecological approaches for preachers who feel called to address these issues. At this conference, she points to wellsprings of biblical insight in the hope that preachers’ thirst for ecologically sound preaching may be quenched. In the process, Kim-Cragg suggests the acronym EARTH as a mnemonic tool: Elements of Life, Animals in the Bible, Rhythms of Life, Tree of Life, and Hesed. Participants will come away encouraged and empowered to address the groaning of creation and glorify God through the proclamation of the Gospel.
