Welcome The Stranger: Thursday, October 26th at 7pm
Refugees Becoming Neighbours, an interactive evening of stories from Canadians who have welcomed individuals who have lived the refugee journey.
Who should attend this event?
- Are you part of a group/church waiting for a Privately Sponsored Refugee application to be processed?
- Are you interested in learning about the unique challenges experienced by asylum seekers who arrive in Canada?
- Do you want to welcome a refugee family who is already here in BC?
- Do you want to assist refugee families experiencing homelessness because of Metro Vancouver's housing crisis?
- Are you interested in learning about how to welcome refugees?
YMCA Childcare Career Exploration (Free) – 10 week course designed to expand and professional network and provide volunteer placements for those working or interested in working in the childcare centers.
o When: Begins on September 23rd (until December 9th 2017),
o Frequency and Time: Every Saturday from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
o Where: Robert Lee YMCA, 955 Burrard St., Vancouver

YMCA Citizenship Preparation and Participation Course (Free) – For Permanent Resident Only; weekly course with group discussions and presentations on the Discover Canada Study Guide.
o When: Begins on September 29th (until December 1st, 2017)
o Frequency and Time: Every Friday from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
o Where: Blenz Coffee Building B at Vancouver Community College (VCC)
o Must attend Registration and Information Session on September 15th, 2017 (arrive between 9:30 – 10am at Blenz Coffee Building B, VCC)

YMCA Conversations for Success: Discussion on Working in Canada (Free) – Weekly course will be conducted by trained facilitators on Workplace Culture, getting Canadian Experience, and Workplace Communication
o When: Begins on October 14th (until November 4th, 2017)
o Frequency and Time: Every Saturday mornings from 10:30am – 12:30pm
o Where: Brentwood Community Resource Centre, 2055 Rosser Avenue, Burnaby (1 block west of Brentwood Town Centre Skytrain Station)

Open House on Sept. 26th, 2017 1-3pm of this new Head Office at 5575 Boundary Road Vancouver
VAST (Vancouver Association for the Survivors of Torture) trauma counseling for Refugees, please contact MOSAIC to make referrals
Her Everyday Resilience (H.E.R.) Multicultural Women’s Group.
o A drop-in group that is held once a month from September to March (except December) for multicultural women who have experienced violence in relationships in their past or present. It’s free and confidential.
NUYU Youth Program
o Through theatre exercises and games, participants gradually create scenes which reflect their personal life challenges. The program creates a space for youth to collectively come up with positive solutions to the challenges presented in the scenes by their peers
BC Alliance for Manufacturing
o Free Industrial Sewing Program for recent Immigrants
Fast-track to IT (FIT)-Youth Program
o Employment Program for Immigrant Youth IT Graduates
