It is with great sadness that we mourn the death of the Reverend Vivian Seegers. She died June 2 of complications related to COVID-19. Rev. Seegers was the Priest and Founder of Urban Aboriginal Ministry (UAM) and Assistant to the Vicar at St. Mary Magdalene Parish.
In Bishop John's announcement to clergy yesterday, he wrote
Many of us have been praying for her and we now commend her to God and pray that she may rest in peace and rise in glory. Following consultation with Vivian's family we will circulate an obituary and information about the date and location of her funeral.
A post circulated yesterday from Deanna Burgart's Facebook page contained these words:
To our dearest loved ones near and far, it is with heavy hearts and lifted prayers that we share with you that our mother, sister, aunty, teacher, mentor and Elder Rev. Vivian Seegers has left us to join our aunties and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers in the Spirit World.She left us this afternoon surrounded by family, love, prayers and medicine. We thank you for your continued prayers and love.
