Over the course of the two days, May 12 & 13, the Members of the 122nd Synod donated approximately $9,000 to the ministry of the Street Outreach Initiative.

Street Outreach Priest, the Reverend Fr. Matthew Johnson made a request to diocesan communications that the following thank-you note be circulated to Members of Synod. We are only too happy to oblige and why not publish it broadly,  the entire diocese and beyond will also benefit from reading Fr. Matthew’s note.

"On behalf of Street Outreach Initiative, I write to thank Members of Synod who contributed, with such overwhelming generosity, to our mission. Through your offerings at the Synod Mass, and your participation in an auction so memorable, that those present will not soon forget it. We draw particular inspiration from our multitalented Chancellor, and our steadfast, results-oriented Executive Archdeacon, among others, who led the charge!

As we enter our 19th year of operations in Downtown Eastside, our hearts overflow with gratitude, for your solidarity and generosity. Everything we do is made possible by contributors like you. Each time we hit the sidewalks of this community, you too go with us. Together we have fostered a unique and enduring Anglican Apostolate to our street involved brothers, sisters, and friends in the DTES. All of them—Our Relations.

Thanks to each of you, and to our Partners—St James Church and the Diocese of New Westminster. You share our vision of sacramental presence and pastoral care on the street. Step by step, one person at a time, together we are making a difference.

'Glory to God, whose power working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine!'"
