Bishop-elect Mohr was ordained in 1983 after attending Lutheran Theological Seminary, Saskatoon. He first served Lutheran Church of the Master in Airdrie (1983-1995), Alberta and then King of Life Lutheran in Coquitlam (1995 – 2007), when he became Assistant to the Bishop.
The son of a clergyman, Bishop-elect Mohr earned his Doctor of Ministry from St. Stephen’s, University of Alberta, writing a dissertation concerning the experience of being a pastor’s child. Bishop-elect Mohr is married to LaRee and is the father of Joel and Carmelle.
The B.C. Synod has fifty-five congregations located in every region of the province. It is the smallest of the five synods of the ELCIC. With 180,000 members, the ELCIC is the major Lutheran body in Canada.
The service of ordination will take place at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church (2350 148th Street, Surrey) at 7pm on Monday, July 5th. All are welcome. The worship will be followed by a reception.
