Almost retired early childhood educator and active member of St. Mark’s, Ocean Park,  Barb Walks, is up for her next challenge.

For the month of August Barb Walks of St. Mark's is going on a mission trip to Rwanda with Embrace Rwanda, which is a registered Canadian charity and non-government organization (NGO).  Barb is going to be teaching pre-school caregivers and the children in their charge how to play. She is taking many small toys to the children who have no toys. At the recent Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster, Barb's husband Brian mentioned to diocesan communications that their "living room is full of toys".

The congregation of St. Mark’s, Ocean Park Anglican Church is excited about supporting Barb’s mission trip to Africa. On Saturday, June 17, St. Mark’s is hosting a fundraiser dinner to help the children and families in Rwanda. Dinner is Rwandan cuisine for a West Coast palate.

The evening will also feature Rwandan singers, a presentation by Embrace Rwanda’s executive director, Hilary King, as well as a Rwandan Market Place.
