Greetings,

We are pleased to announce that the parishes of the Diocese of New Westminster will be permitted to move to Phase III of re-opening to in-person gatherings on Sunday August 16, 2020.

As a reminder:

  • Materials describing what is and is not permissible in Phase III are found here on the diocesan website (page 12 of the linked document). It is important that you review this information and make sure that all involved are very familiar with the content.
  • Only those parishes that have applied and whose Phase III plans have been approved by the review team (Archbishop Melissa, the Reverend Philippa Segrave-Pride and the Reverend Tellison Glover) may begin any Phase III activity.
  • No parish must move to activities permitted in Phase III.

As we interact with parishes currently open in Phase II, we hear over and over again, how important rehearsing safety protocols are to leaders and others in parishes as they take on new activities. We recommend, therefore, that parishes moving to Phase III, discuss in detail and then rehearse what they will do before going public.

Please know that we are here to help and invite any questions, concerns or ideas that you may have. Please be in touch with the team.

Loving God, we give you thanks and praise for your companionship with us as we walk the path of caring for your people in uncertain times. Grant us the strength and wisdom to continue our walk with you as we pray, plan and work for the welfare of our parishes and communities. Where we are perplexed, guide us. Where we are weary, strengthen and uphold us. Where we are in any need, give us confidence in your care. In the name of Christ. AMEN.

With love and care,

+Melissa, Philippa+ and Tellison+
