Rector - St Catherine Capilano

(Vicar) 3/4 time without term

The Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster is seeking to appoint a Vicar for the Parish of St Catherine, Capilano in the City of North Vancouver, BC. The Parish is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples. This position is ¾  time and without term.  A rectory is available.

There are two Sunday liturgies from the Book of Alternative Services – an 8am said Eucharist and a 10am choral Eucharist with volunteer choir.  A Sunday School is provided for children at the 10 am Eucharist.    On Wednesday at 10am a mid-week Eucharist is offered.  The church is well used by visiting choirs from near and far because of its acoustical qualities.

Lay leaders are a strong part of St Catherine’s and contribute not only to the ministries within the parish and neighbourhood but also to diocesan ministries and governance. An important component is their commitment to providing pastoral support to one another.

St Catherine’s enjoys a strong association with neighbouring Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  In addition St Catherine’s partners with four other Anglican parishes and two Lutheran churches in the North Vancouver Deanery providing shared opportunities for such things as worship, faith formation and youth ministry. St Catherine’s is committed to responding to the needs of the parish, the wider-neighbourhood, the country and the world. This is done through such things as providing a Thanksgiving dinner to 150 guests, donating personal care items to a recovery house, sponsoring Christmas food hampers, giving to the Primate’s Fund, and refugee resettlement.
