On April 14, 2016, BC declared a public health emergency around the number of opioid related deaths. At that time the rate of overdose deaths was 20.4 per 100,000 people. 8 years later the rate of overdose deaths is almost 42 per 100,000. Thousands of our family members, friends and neighbours have died. And we are grieving their loss. Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver will be open from 1pm for quiet prayer.
A Service of Lamentation for all living through the Opioid Crisis will begin at 2pm. In partnership with neighbours we will offer prayers, poetry, reflection, music and pastoral care. You are invited to bring your heart and soul to lament the deaths and the suffering, and to perhaps leave transformed to action. All are Welcome.
