Marianna Harris, co-chair of the United Church's Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel would like to share the information about this event. National United Church staff will be presenting.

Marianna writes "We have just had our last planning call for the events around how we can work non-violently for justice and peace in Israel and Palestine.  They are going to be excellent, with great resources, including a video of Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, saying that it is only outside pressure which will bring about change.

We'll learn about boycott, divestment and sanctions--the same kind of movement  initiated by American Black Christians in the civil  rights movement and by those who opposed apartheid in South Africa.

We'll learn about the situation of children and the work of Defense for Children International and the American Quaker project, "No Way to Treat a Child," as well as the work of the United Church of Canada.

Big question: how well does our media serve us around this issue? And how can we encourage the media to offer more accurate coverage?

So come on out and bring your three best friends.

Apr. 27, 7:00-9:30 at Canadian Memorial United Church's Centre for Peace, 1825 West 16th Avenue (at Burrard).

This event is co-sponsored by the General Council of the United Church of Canada and the United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel.
