Former Mayor of Abbotsford, George F. Ferguson, aged 91 died while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
He was baptized at Christ Church Cathedral, lived in the Abbotsford area for more than 80 years and was mayor of various municipalities in the region including Abbotsford for most of four decdes. From 2010 for the next years he was a regular attendee at St. Matthews. He is a political icon.
The funeral will be an Anglican funeral service in this large civic building with Major (ret) the Reverend Art Turnbull officiating, assisted by the Reverend David Price and the Venerable Beverley Stewart.
It is expected that more than 1000 will attend including various political figures.
There will be a tag line in the Order of Service bulletin announcing that the service is held under the authority of the Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster and is within the Parish of St. Matthew, Abbotsford, mentioning the Reverend Allen Doerksen as the incumbent.
