It has been a long haul today, and we apologize for the lack of many updates as we spend our time engaging with the many meetings, conversations, and sessions from 8am-9pm and beyond.  These are long but fulfilling days.

One of the big pieces of today was that the Provincial caucuses met today to elect their representatives for the Council of General Synod. The Province of BC & Yukon, of which New Westminster is a part, met and elected the following:

  • Bishop: Larry Robertson (Yukon)
  • Clergy: Clara Plamomdon (BC)
  • Laity: Randall Fairey (Kootenay) and Melanie Delva (New Westminster)
  • Youth: Dale Drozda (APCI)

Archbishop John Privett began the meeting with people finding someone they did not know and getting to know each other. By the time the caucus convened, the group was chatty and convivial. Much laughter ensued as one by one, the bishops (who are all incredibly busy and committed in other areas of the church and in their lives) gave rousing speeches of why they should NOT be elected!  All were grateful for +Larry's willingness to serve.

Please pray for these  your CoGS reps and all reps elected in the other provincial caucuses as they provide leadership on the council for the next 3 years.

Though exhausted to the core, I (Melanie) ended my day by singing old time hymns with those gathered in the 'lounge' of the Anglican Council of Indigenous People.  It was so good to sing the old hymns and see loved ones from across the Land. We ended the night with How Great Thou Art - sung together in about 4 languages.

Good night from here. Please keep us all in your prayers.
