In December 2015, Archbishop Melissa Skelton initiated The Bishop's Fund for Refugee Resettlement in response to the interest in assisting refugees within the diocese of New Westminster. This fund aims to cover expenses beyond what parishes or groups raise for sponsorship applications. It may include extraordinary medical costs and "month 13" expenses during the transition from sponsorship to self-sufficiency, and unforeseen expenses for refugee families in Canada. Contributions can be made via credit card through the diocesan website or by mailing a cheque to The Diocese of New Westminster with a note specifying it's for the Bishop's Fund for Refugee Resettlement.
